Spend the First 48 Hours Drinking

Two and a half years ago, I hopped on a bus at around 5 in the morning and somehow ended up in Estonia.  (This is, of course, an exaggeration.  The bus in question was leaving from St. Petersburg, where I was living at the time, and I was fully aware of its destination.  In other words, we went to Estonia on purpose.)

Getting my photos in order has been on my to-do list for some time, and now that I’ve finally had some down time I’ve made at least a little progress.  Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is one of my favorite places I’ve ever been.  After several months in cold, unfriendly (this is MY blog, so I’m allowed to be subjective!) St. Petersburg, the combination of sunshine, English-speakers and a quaint, medieval town was JUST what the doctor ordered.

On Golden Pond

In just a few short days, I will be here:

…and I am very, VERY happy about that.  I’ve spent at least part of almost every summer of my life on this lake, and especially with my upcoming move out west (less than two weeks now!), I’m grateful to have a few days to unwind in a vastly underrated – yet truly magical – corner of the world.

Patriotic, or Something.

I have no idea who this is.

Aaaaah, Washington, D.C.: the land of the free, and the home of the brave.  A haven of bad traffic, humidity and tourists, but also (and much more importantly) really fun girlfriends and some history that even I find interesting.  As a former Russian major (is it “former” if you actually acquired the degree, but are sadly no longer a student?), I find any country’s history that does NOT involve the staunch pride of Eastern European men and its consequences somewhat boring.
