Sick Day Realness: Homemade Chicken Stock / “Bone Broth” Recipe

DSC_0530

Being sick is legitimately the worst.

I may have mentioned this before, but growing up, one of the most-repeated warnings in my household was, and I quote: “A bored Tess is never a good thing.”

Being sick is SO boring. I always have all of these ideas of cool things to do, and none of them are possible because I’m sick. Or I actually try to do all of them and just prevent myself from getting better any faster. So basically I hate it I hate it I hate it.

Anyway, in the spirit of going along with being sick (I repeat: ugh), I decided to learn how to make homemade chicken stock. Mostly because it feels like doing something when I’m not really supposed to be doing anything at all. I want chicken stock, too.

You guys. I like actually can’t even with these.

I think I mentioned previously that the Husband (!!!) and I spent much of this past fall putting together a little labor of love that was honestly one of my favorite things I’ve ever done. Since we weren’t going to be home for Christmas, we put together a cookbook of our most-cooked meals, as a little snapshot of our world and a way to share one of our favorite ways of spending time together with our families. Gimme that recipe NOW.

Whoops. Also, Sesame Noodles!

OH YEAH, my blog!

Forgive me, friends.  My only excuse is that at some point in the last few months, I’ve developed a life.

With that aside, life update: Work has been hectic but also great, and My Man (he has formally requested that I capitalize his title from now on, and who am I to deny Him?) and I have been spending lots of time with friends and family.  Highlights include an awesome wine tasting, some happy hours and potlucks, and nights snuggling by the fire watching Glee with some of our buddies.  Life has been pretty grand.

Zen and the Art of Pizza Making

[DISCLAIMER: The title of this post could potentially fool one into thinking that there is a pizza recipe somewhere in this post.  And if one was thinking that, one would be wrong.  I will say that pizza doesn’t really require a recipe – you just put sauce and ingredients on the dough and bake it.  So if that’s what you were looking for, you are very, very welcome.]

This weekend has been an amazing, refreshing, restorative few days comprised of delicious food, amazing friends and beautiful weather.  Not gonna lie, it was pretty satisfying to type that last sentence.  ‘Cause it’s true!

We were graced this past week by the presence of Snuggles, one of our BFFs from college, and his buddy, Tall D.  The two (very smart!) boys took a much-needed break from East Coast work and humidity (yuck!) to come bask in the Colorado sun for a few days, and we took good care of them – the not-so-secret part was, we LOVE having visitors and they took care of us just as much in that sense.
